President Joe Biden has expressed his support for a World Trade Organization proposal to waive intellectual property rights for COVID-19 vaccines.

Florida State University law professor Frederick Abbott, the Edward Ball Eminent Scholar Professor of International Law, is available to comment on international intellectual property rights and global economic issues around the proposal.

Abbott regularly serves as panelist for the World Intellectual Property Organization Arbitration and Mediation Center, and he is on the editorial boards of the Journal of International Economic Law and the WIPO-WTO Colloquium Papers Series, a journal published jointly by the World Intellectual Property Organization and the World Trade Organization.

He has been quoted in The Wall Street Journal and Bloomberg Law regarding intellectual property laws and COVID-19 vaccines.

For media interviews, Abbott can be reached at fabbott@law.fsu.edu or (850) 644-1572.
