University Hospitals Ahuja Medical Center Recognized for High-Value Health Care

University Hospitals Ahuja Medical Center has been named a finalist for the 2020 QUEST® Award for High-Value Health Care from Premier Inc., a leading health care improvement company, for providing outstanding patient care.

UH Ahuja is proud to be named a finalist for the QUEST Award as we continue to improve patient outcomes and community health,” said UH Ahuja President Alan Papa, FACHE. “This recognition reinforces our commitment to reliably deliver the best experience to the patients we serve. We look forward to continuing to provide this level of care as our hospital footprint expands, and we develop UH Ahuja Phase 2 over the next few years.”

UH Ahuja received finalist recognition for achieving top performance threshold in four of the areas measured in Premier’s QUEST 2020 collaborative: affordability, effective care and coordination, prevention and treatment for leading causes of mortality, and patient safety.

“QUEST facilities are setting new standards of clinical excellence nationwide,” said Seth Edwards, Vice President of Engagement and Delivery for Premier. “Together, they have worked to outperform in health care. Premier congratulates UH Ahuja for these fantastic achievements.”

Premier brings together 1,500 hospitals and health systems in multiple collaboratives, including QUEST, to leverage the power of collaboration on a national scale. Within these collaboratives, health care providers work with each other to develop, share and scale best practices that improve quality and safety, reduce costs and share risk. A recipient of The Joint Commission and National Quality Forum’s 2015 John M. Eisenberg Patient Safety and Quality Award, QUEST was launched in 2008 to help health systems reliably deliver the most efficient, effective and caring experience for every patient, every time. Hospitals in Premier’s QUEST collaborative perform 29% better than non-Premier hospitals in achieving value-based purchasing payments.

All 197 QUEST 2020 hospitals submitting data for 4Q2018 through 3Q2019 were eligible for the QUEST Award. Performance thresholds were established at the top quartile of performance in all measures except affordability, which was based on top tercile of performance, from the baseline period. Top performance methodology for each dimension varied depending on the measure calculation and methodology.
