MAYWOOD, IL – Loyola University Medical Center and Gottlieb Memorial Hospital were named Top Teaching Hospitals nationally by The Leapfrog Group. The Leapfrog Top Hospital award is widely acknowledged as one of the most competitive honors American hospitals can receive.
Only eight Illinois hospitals were named among the national 120 Top Hospitals for 2019. About 2,100 hospitals were considered for the award. Less than six percent of all eligible facilities earn the designation. Both Loyola University Medical Center and Gottlieb Memorial Hospital received a Leapfrog grade “A” for safety in fall 2019.
“We are proud to have two Loyola Medicine hospitals featured on the Top Hospitals list,” said Shawn P. Vincent, president and CEO of Loyola Medicine. “This achievement wouldn’t be possible without the unwavering commitment of our colleagues to provide exceptional patient care.”
Leapfrog spotlights the hospitals across the nation that have truly gone above and beyond in their pursuit of excellence. The prestigious Top Hospitals award recognizes hospitals for ensuring their facilities prioritize safety and quality in patient care.
To qualify for the Top Hospitals distinction, hospitals must rank top among peers in the 2019 Leapfrog Hospital Survey, which assesses hospital performance on the highest known standards for quality and patient safety, and achieve top performance in its category.
