Amgad Elgowainy leads a team of researchers, postdocs and software developers in Argonne National Laboratory’s Systems Assessment Center. Elgowainy has collaborated with several industry partners to develop a better hydrogen refueling method that can potentially save time and costs.
He conducts analysis of alternative transportation fuels and advanced vehicle technologies. He contributed to the development of the Greenhouse gases, Regulated Emissions, and Energy use in Technologies (GREET) suite of models for life-cycle accounting of energy and emissions of alternative fuel/vehicle systems. His research, modeling and analysis cover petroleum and natural gas vehicles, plug-in hybrid and battery electric vehicles, and hydrogen fuel cell vehicles.
