WASHINGTON, D.C. (Jan. 23, 2020) – In January 2020, an outbreak of a serious respiratory illness caused by a new coronavirus was reported in Wuhan province of China and is being closely monitored by public health officials. The novel coronavirus has since spread to other countries, including Taiwan, Thailand, Japan, South Korea, Singapore and the state of Washington in the United States.
