New Legislation for 25th Amendment Commission, Rutgers Senate Expert Available to Discuss

Rutgers political scientist Ross Baker is available to discuss new legislation to be introduced today that will establish a 25th Amendment commission to assess the president’s mental and physical capacity to hold office.

“U.S. Rep. Jamie Raskin’s bill to impanel a committee of experts to evaluate the president’s fitness to remain in office will drive him into a steroid-fueled rage,” said Baker. “For that reason, this 25th Amendment-Lite approach is well-intentioned but doomed.”

Baker is a former research associate at the Brookings Institution who has served as a consultant and resident scholar for Democrats in the House and Senate. He is the author of Friend and Foe in the U.S. Senate and House and Senate.

He can be reached at rosbaker@polisci.rutgers.edu or 609-933-5445.
