The Johns Hopkins School of Nursing recognized outstanding nurses, preceptors, faculty, students, and staff at its 8th annual Evening with the Stars event on November 2.
Franklyn Baker, president and CEO of United Way of Central Maryland, served as emcee, and net proceeds benefited the school’s Baltimore Talent Scholars Program, which provides four, full-tuition scholarships for Baltimore City Public School high school graduates who have been admitted to the Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) Entry into Nursing Practice program.
The night honored excellence in nursing care and innovation, and the profession’s commitment to health and well-being for all people. A new award this year was the Diversity Trailblazer Award, which was established to recognize Hopkins Nurses who have dedicated their lifetime work to improve the health of diverse communities locally and globally.
Also showcased was the “Nursing’s Next Big Idea / We Got This” video. The video has gone viral on Twitter overturning misperceptions about the profession and inspiring fresh thinking about its future.
