Professor McGeehan led the team on the ground-breaking research on enzymes that can digest polyethylene terephthalate (PET), a common plastic found in single-use plastic bottles and clothing. Professor McGeehan’s expertise covers:
- Engineering enzymes for industrial biotechnology applications
- The use of enzyme-based technologies to help tackle the challenge of plastic pollution and develop low energy, low carbon, biorecycling solutions.
- Enzyme based recycling reduces energy and greenhouse gas emissions
