As businesses prepare for a coronavirus outbreak, they must consider the dos and don’ts of telecommuting

With the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention warning of likely coronavirus outbreaks in America, businesses will look for ways to maintain productivity and a healthy work force at the same time. According to Timothy Golden, a professor in the Lally School of Management at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, telecommuting will be one of the best options for companies to explore. “Businesses will need to prepare for their employees to work remotely as a telecommuter. They will need to know how to do this, what are best practices, how to avoid pitfalls among many other considerations,” Golden said.

Golden is a leading expert in the field of telecommuting, telework, and the relationship between technology and managerial behavior.  His most recent article was just published in the Journal of Vocational Behavior. He is available to discuss what steps businesses should take – and which common errors they should avoid – to successfully implement telecommuting policies.
