AANEM Announces Plenary Sessions and Speakers for 2021 Annual Meeting

ROCHESTER, Minn. – The American Association of Neuromuscular & Electrodiagnostic Medicine (AANEM) is excited to announce the plenary sessions and speakers for the 2021 AANEM Annual Meeting. The plenary topic is “New Worlds, New Ways.” AANEM President Bonnie Weigert, MD, says the goal is to build on the plenary programs of the past several meetings, which have focused on the new groundbreaking treatments for multiple neuromuscular diseases.

“We hope to look at the clinical progress of those treatments and the ethical challenges they present,” said Dr. Weigert. “Is it a ‘Brave New World’ as some might fear, or the ‘shining, shimmering, splendid’ Disney version? And with the pandemic, hopefully looking forward at how we can better address care for our NM patients, along with the disparities in healthcare and for those who provide it.”

Registration for the 2021 AANEM Annual Meeting opens on June 25. The current plan is to hold the meeting in person in Aurora, Colorado, but the AANEM continues to monitor the rapidly changing COVID-19 pandemic and will adjust the meeting plans accordingly.
