Winter is right time to start pondering … summer camp for kids. Educational psychologist can provide tips for parents.

It might be the middle of winter, but the time is right for parents to start thinking about a summer camp. Chris Lawson, who does research on how children learn, can talk about how to pick a summer camp or program that’s right for your child. An associate professor in educational psychology at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee, Lawson studies cognitive development from infancy to early childhood. Lawson directs the Cognitive Development Research Group at UWM. Among other projects, Lawson helped design and evaluate a study of the “maker experience” exhibit at Milwaukee’s Betty Brinn Children’s Museum, highlighting how children learn about electricity.
