The Center for Dentistry at Hackensack University Medical Center to Offer Free Dental Care through “Give Kids a Smile” Program

January 15, 2020 – Hackensack, NJ – The Center for Dentistry at Hackensack University Medical Center will be participating in the American Dental Association’s “Give Kids a Smile” program on Friday, February 7. Free preventive and restorative dental care will be offered to children ages 12 and younger by appointment only from 9:00am to 4:00pm at the Hillcrest Building, 60 Second Street, Hackensack.

Give Kids a Smile is a national, one-day program celebrated on the first Friday in February each year. Established in 2002, the program’s goal is to expand access to dental care for children.

“At the Center for Dentistry at Hackensack University Medical Center, we are committed to giving back to the community we serve,” said James Ruggiero, DMD, MAGD, chair of Dentistry, the Center for Dentistry at Hackensack University Medical Center. “Each year, ‘Give Kids a Smile’ helps give more young people access to critical oral health services. Our team members look forward to participating in this one-day program to encourage regular dental care and educate community members about the importance of maintaining a healthy body, including the mouth.”

Children who visit the Center for Dentistry at Hackensack University Medical Center on February 7 will receive a comprehensive dental exam, oral health care instruction, fluoride treatments, free dental hygiene materials and, if necessary, referrals for continuing treatment. In order for children 12 and younger to be treated by the Center for Dentistry, parents or guardians must make an appointment by calling 551-996-2111.
