The Association of Diabetes Care & Education Specialists Foundation and Certification Board for Diabetes Care and Education announce mentored postdoctoral fellowship in integrated diabetes management

The Association of Diabetes Care & Education Specialists Foundation and the Certification Board for Diabetes Care and Education have collaborated to offer a one-year postdoctoral fellowship opportunity to support the career of emerging leaders in diabetes care and education. The fellowship reinforces long-term goals by both organizations to build on existing research in diabetes care and enhance health outcomes for people with diabetes, prediabetes and other cardiometabolic conditions.

“The ADCES Foundation is proud to support the next generation of research scientists and collaborate with CBDCE in the process. The goal of the program is to ultimately enrich the science behind the good work diabetes care and education specialists are doing,” said 2020 ADCES president, Kellie Antinori-Lent, MSN, RN, ACNS-BC, BC-ADM, CDCES, FADCES. “Through this fellowship and future collaboration, we hope to continue to prioritize the growth of the profession and quality care.”

“Continued contributions to evidence-based outcomes data from quality diabetes care and education is critically important to demonstrate the sustained impact and value of certified diabetes care and education specialists (CDCES) to the diabetes community. CBDCE encourages research in the field and supports CDCESs engaging in well-designed research activities. CBDCE is incredibly excited to partner with ADCES in this new fellowship opportunity!” said CBDCE’s 2020 chair, Jasmine D. Gonzalvo, PharmD, CDCES, BCPS, BC-ADM, LDE, FADCES.

The Mentored Fellowship in Integrated Diabetes Management fellowship supports a postdoctoral fellow and mentor specializing in diabetes management with a focus in one of 6 areas: clinical integration, related conditions, behavioral health, technology, person-centered care or the quadruple aim. The fellow is provided with a one-year stipend, honorary participation in the ADCES Research Committee and consultation to ADCES research efforts, and travel funds for the ADCES annual conference and one other national meeting of their choice where they will be required to present.

To qualify, applicants should submit a cover letter and application by July, 31 2020, to [email protected]. The postdoctoral fellow appointment must be in an integrated department, center or institute with access to support across the various disciplines within health services research: statistics, health economics, analytics and clinical expertise.
