The 27th Annual Cognitive Neuroscience Society Conference to take place virtually

March 26, 2020 – The Cognitive Neuroscience Society (CNS) will be holding its 27th annual meeting as a virtual conference, May 2-5, 2020. The Society decided to transition to a virtual platform for the meeting, which was originally scheduled to take place in Boston, due to mounting public health concerns over novel coronavirus disease 2019.

“The health and safety of our members and their communities, staff, and the Boston and surrounding communities is of paramount importance to us,” says the CNS Governing Board. “We are excited to bring a virtual platform to our community of cognitive neuroscientists, so that they can collaboratively share their important research.”

The virtual format will enable more scientists from around the world to attend the meeting, including those who have traditionally found it challenging to participate in the meeting, while also leaving a minimal carbon footprint. Participants will be able to watch, and participate in discussions around, more than 50 talks and more than 1,000 posters on the latest research research on consciousness, neurotechnology, memory, language, aging, and learning.

Award lectures, the keynote, and symposia will highlight new work on human cooperation, the role of poverty in development, reading development, explorations in big data, sleep and memory, emotions, and more. The posters will be presented in individual, customizable virtual booths that include optional video presentations by the authors.

The Kavli Foundation, UC Davis Center for Mind and Brain, and Basque Center on Cognition, Brain and Language (BCBL) are helping to support this virtual meeting, and the Australasian Cognitive Neuroscience Society (ACNS) is now a partner organization. “In this unprecedented time for the global scientific community, we are proud to have strong partners in exploring innovative new ways to enable our members to present their exciting research, advance their training, and make connections with colleagues from around the world,” says the CNS Governing Board.

The Society, composed of 3,000 members from around the world, expects more than 1,500 attendees for CNS 2020 Virtual. The annual meeting is the largest event CNS holds throughout the year and is an opportunity for its cognitive neuroscientist members to share their work and collaborate.
