Study: Vitamin D May Play a Role in Prostate Cancer Disparities

Vitamin D deficiency could be the reason African American men experience more aggressive prostate cancer at a younger age compared with European American men, new research from Cedars-Sinai Cancer suggests.

The annual Ameri Prize is a first-of-its-kind award to recognize U.S. public diplomacy professionals who devise innovative and scalable strategies for advancing foreign policy and international cooperation. The program was launched by CPD in collaboration with the State Department in 2021. It has been endowed by Goli Ameri, entrepreneur and former U.S. Assistant Secretary of State for Educational and Cultural Affairs. The inaugural prize honored two U.S. diplomats for exceptional innovation and creativity in countering disinformation in Poland.

Thomas Jackiewicz Appointed President of University of Chicago Medical Center, COO of UChicago Medicine health system

Thomas E. Jackiewicz, a leader with extensive experience in top academic health systems and medical schools, has been appointed the new president of the University of Chicago Medical Center and chief operating officer of the UChicago Medicine health system, succeeding Sharon O’Keefe, who earlier announced her plans to retire in July 2020.
