On April 23, 2024, the Federal Trade Commission (FTC) announced a ruling banning most noncompete agreements (NCA) nationwide which cites a paper co-authored by a researcher at The University of Alabama in Huntsville (UAH). Dr. Ege Can in the College of Business at UAH, a part of the University of Alabama System, studied the impact of NCAs on entrepreneurship, highlighting how banning NCAs could boost business innovation.

“Organic Fertilizer from Cassava Waste” An Innovation from Chula to Replace Chemical Fertilizers and Increase the Value of Agricultural Waste

A Chula researcher has been successful in adding value to agricultural waste generated by industrial factories by transforming cassava waste and sewage sludge into organic fertilizer to replace the use of chemical fertilizers. He has also come up with a special formula of microbial inoculum that increases nutrients needed by plants.

Anesthesiology researchers are responsible for some of medicine’s most significant advances, from the Apgar score that tests a newborn’s health to cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR). Computational biologist Thomas Norman, PhD, of Memorial Sloan Kettering’s (MSK) Sloan Kettering Institute (SKI) has been named one of 53 recipients of the prestigious 2020 National Institutes of Health (NIH) Director’s New Innovator Award. As part of the award, Dr. Norman will receive $1.5 million in direct costs upfront in the first year of a five-year award.
