The American Cleaning Institute (ACI) is joining hundreds of top safety experts and partners virtually at the Safe Kids Worldwide Childhood Injury Prevention Convention (PrevCon, July 12-16) for a week of conversation focused on preventing unintentional childhood injuries. ACI Urges FDA to Address Hand Sanitizer Safety Concerns

The American Cleaning Institute (ACI) is pressing the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) to clarify policies on labeling and refilling practices involving hand sanitizers.

In a letter sent to the agency, ACI expressed concerns related to the “new, increasingly widespread practice of providing hand sanitizers to consumers in public settings…that are often sold in bulk and used to fill existing dispensers, which can create a serious risk to public health and safety.”

“Store Not Décor”: New Campaign Aims to Prevent Accidental Poisonings in Children

New research from the American Cleaning Institute (ACI) finds nearly 13% of Americans are not storing liquid laundry packets in their original child resistant containers. In response, ACI has launched the #StoreNotDecor Challenge to help families recognize unsafe storage trends and raise awareness of the importance of laundry safety. The #StoreNotDecor Challenge will be powered by a variety of digital influencers across Facebook, Instagram, TikTok, Twitter and Pinterest encouraging followers to participate.

American Cleaning Institute Joins National Blue Ribbon Task Force To Stem Covid-19 Vaccine Hesitancy

The American Cleaning Institute (ACI), the trade association for the cleaning product supply chain, joined the National Blue Ribbon Task Force to Stem COVID-19 Vaccine Hesitancy. This is a national effort spearheaded by The Creative Coalition in partnership with the Dean of the Yale University School of Public Health that brings together the most significant influencers and leaders in the U.S. in a national campaign aimed at reducing vaccine hesitancy across the most vulnerable communities.

Research: EU Model Overestimates Environmental Exposure of Key Surfactant

A European Union model used to predict the environmental exposure of a major detergent ingredient is overly conservative and “significantly overestimates” effluent concentrations, new research shows. A study co-authored by the American Cleaning Institute (ACI), “Comparing the European Union System for the Evaluation of Substances (EUSES) environmental exposure calculations with monitoring data for alkyl sulphate surfactants,” is now available in the journal Environmental Sciences Europe.

Research: Key Detergent Polymers Pose Low Risk to Surface Waters

Newly published research indicates that an important ingredient used in detergents and cleaning products pose a low ecological risk to waterways. The study, “Environmental risk assessment of polycarboxylate polymers used in cleaning products in the United States,” is published in Chemosphere and is now available via open access. The research was conducted by American Cleaning Institute (ACI), Integral Consulting, Inc. and The Procter and Gamble Company.

8 New Cleaning Ingredients Added to the EPA’s Safer Chemical Ingredients List

The Environmental Protection Agency’s Safer Choice program approved eight cleaning product ingredients submitted by the American Cleaning Institute (ACI) for inclusion in its Safer Chemical Ingredients List (SCIL).

The decision marks the first time Safer Choice has approved a SCIL submission by a non-manufacturer.
