Study shows how storm evacuations can be improved

Tropical Storm Nicholas could cause life-threatening flash floods in the South, according to the National Hurricane Center. Noah Dormady, associate professor of public policy, recently conducted a study that found emergency management officials often do not have the numeracy skills needed to make the best decisions based on data they receive about which residents to evacuate, and when, during hurricanes and other storms.
