Study of Breast Cancer Recurrence Features May Lead to New Testing for Risk

Article title: Spatial locations of certain enzymes and transporters within pre-invasive ductal epithelial cells predict human breast cancer recurrences

Authors: Alexandra M. Kraft and Howard R. Petty

From the authors: “In the future, it will be important to increase the number of [breast cancer] patients studied and digital micrographs quantified to insure that the findings can be generalized to all patients and their ducts and to improve the precision of machine learning. It will also be of interest to further explore the cell biology of recurrences, especially the identification of independent metabolic switches required for breast cancer recurrences.”

This study is highlighted as one of November’s “best of the best” as part of the American Physiological Society’s APSselect program.
