Study Analyzes Functional Properties of Volume-regulated Anion Channels

Article title: LRRC8A homohexameric channels poorly recapitulate VRAC regulation and pharmacology

Authors: Toshiki Yamada, Eric E. Figueroa, Jerod S. Denton, Kevin Strange

From the authors: “We propose that homohexameric [leucine-rich repeat containing 8] chimeric channels provide unique opportunities for generating more physiologically relevant [volume-regulated anion channel] cryo-electron microscopy structures and for conducting structure-function analysis and biochemical studies of channel assembly, pore conformation, gating and regulation by cell volume changes and intracellular ionic strength.”

This study is highlighted as one of February’s “best of the best” as part of the American Physiological Society’s APSselect program.
