Springer Nature extends digital flexibility in its new eBook offers

Springer Nature is providing libraries and research institutions with a broader range of choice in how they purchase and access digital book content. Its new eBook solutions will provide librarians in academic and corporate institutions with a range of flexible options to meet individual needs and budgets.

In a pioneering move, Springer Nature launched its eBook Collections in 2006, and the publisher is continuously expanding this portfolio. It is currently available for 21 academic disciplines in English language. Using this experience and expertise, Springer Nature has now launched a wider variety of purchasing options for eBooks across its well-established imprints, such as Springer, Palgrave and Apress.

Springer Nature’s Flexible eBook Solutions:

    1. The Single Title model allows users to pick and choose a minimum of 20 titles per purchase from a mix of disciplines and all copyright years.

    2. Access & Select offers an evidence-based selection combined with eBook access and additional services.

    3. Furthermore, a set of five reference modules gives access to Major Reference Works from across all copyright years, including both, the living and static editions.

“We know that there is a growing demand by libraries for greater flexibility at a time when digital has become more important than ever. Our international sales colleagues are collaborating very closely with librarians all over the world. We are happy to support them by opening up our business models to give librarians a greater choice and support them with accessible e-resources”, says Charlotte Liu, Chief Commercial Officer, Springer Nature.

Niels Peter Thomas, Managing Director Books, Springer Nature, says, “An eBook from Springer Nature is on average downloaded 8,800 times in the first year of publication and cited 40 times during the first four years after publication. This decision to introduce our new flexible eBook solutions will further strengthen the impact of our eBooks as it will advance the citation reach of our strong book portfolio.”
