September is Blood Cancer Awareness Month and the CU Cancer Center has a patient, Siri Lindley, and medical experts looking to bring knowledge to this disease. 

Siri is a former world champion triathlete who is a survivor of Acute Myeloid Leukemia (AML). She was on a clinical trial that helped her get to a clear scan. This is one of the areas that the CU Cancer Center has made great strides in recent years and in turn is one of the leaders in blood cancer research. Here is more information about her specific clinical trial. This is a type of cancer that has limited treatment options so these clinical trials are really able to have a huge impact.

AML is a type of blood cancer that starts in the bone marrow but quickly moves into the blood as well. It is usually a very aggressive disease that needs incredibly invasive and harsh treatments. Siri was able to catch it early when getting hip surgery.
