Rutgers Expert Available to Discuss Supreme Court’s Ruling on Protecting LGBTQ+ Workers Rights

Perry N. Halkitis, dean, Rutgers School of Public Health, public health psychologist, researcher, educator, and advocate and an expert on the health of LGBTQ + people and populations, is available for interviews following the Supreme Court’s ruling that federal law protects LGBTQ+ employees from discrimination based on sexual and/or gender identities.

“The recent ruling protecting LGBTQ+ people in workplaces is a great step in protecting the individual and public health of sexual and gender minority individuals who still continually face various forms of discrimination in all sectors including an underprepared and dismissive healthcare industry,” said Halkitis. “As we celebrate Pride Month and commemorate the 51st anniversary of the Stonewall Riots, I hope we harness the energy of the SCOTUS decision to fuel our activism and continuous fight for human rights for all, so we help save lives.”

Dean Halkitis is also Founding Editor in Chief of Annals of LGBTQ Public & Population Health and author of the 2019 book, Out in Time: The Public Lives of Gay Men from Stonewall to the Queer Veneration (Oxford University Press).
