Register Now: Virtual ANESTHESIOLOGY® 2020

We’re only a few weeks away from the largest annual anesthesiology educational event in the world — ANESTHESIOLOGY® 2020 — the annual meeting of the American Society of Anesthesiologists (ASA), where thousands of experts in the specialty of anesthesiology will come together virtually for the first time ever.

Press registration for the meeting is open and those who register will have access to internationally recognized scientists, physicians and global thought leaders who are driving innovation and cutting-edge research in the specialty.

In addition to 600 scientific abstracts, a virtual exhibit hall and more than 200 educational sessions spanning acute and chronic pain management, labor and delivery, perioperative care, critical care medicine and beyond, new offerings in 2020 include:

  • Welcome Session, VADM Jerome M. Adams, U.S. Surgeon General, will speak on Fri., Oct. 2., giving an update on the COVID-19 pandemic, including discoveries and lessons learned, federal actions to address it and a path forward for the profession, taking into account anesthesiologists’ crucial role during COVID-19.
  • Featured speaker Helge Braun, Germany’s Head of the Chancellery and Federal Minister for Special Affairs under German Chancellor Angela Merkel, is an anesthesiologist who entered politics early in his career and has continued his spectacular rise in government ever since. With his background in anesthesiology and critical care, Dr. Braun will give his perspective on how Germany battled the COVID-19 pandemic and how he protected the citizens, his fellow health care workers and the health care system in Germany as a whole.
  • Keynote speaker Frank S. Collins, M.D., PhD, Director of the National Institutes of Health (NIH), will discuss the NIH’s response to the COVID-19 pandemic and physician anesthesiologists’ role in the NIH’s HEAL (Helping to End Addiction Long-Term) initiative, which aims to supply scientific solutions to the national opioid crisis and innovative therapies for pain management.
  • A live webinar you won’t want to miss on Mon., Oct. 5 (time TBD) that will answer your questions and provide insights into research on topics including:
  • Racial disparities among children in the operating room
  • How cannabis use effects the need for pain medicine during and after surgery
  • Artificial intelligence as a tool to predict postsurgical pain and opioid use
