Nurse experts discuss how practice-academic partnerships can support new nurses and healthcare organizations adapting to COVID-19 in special webinar on October 15

The webinar “Practice/Academic Partnerships in the Age of COVID: You Can Do This!” hosted by the American Journal of Nursing (AJN) in collaboration with the National Council of State Boards of Nursing (NCSBN), explores how partnerships between nursing education and practice can be a successful approach to addressing both nursing workforce and academic needs during the COVID-19 pandemic. With clinical experiences limited for nursing students, a practice-academic partnership model can ensure that graduating nurses are well prepared, competent and safe as they enter the nursing workforce where they will play an integral role in responding to COVID-19 and future health emergencies.

The webinar will be hosted by AJN’s Editor in Chief Maureen Shawn Kennedy, MA, RN, FAAN, and moderated by NCSBN’s Director of Regulatory Innovations Nancy Spector, PHD, RN, FAAN. Attendees will learn the benefits of the practice-academic partnership model developed by NCSBN and other nursing leaders for both students and hospitals, its components and implementation processes, and hear an evaluation of successful practice-academic partnerships established in response to the pandemic. Real-life implementation strategies and lessons learned will be discussed by panelists from institutions that are using the model.
