North American IASLC North America Conference on Lung Cancer- – Oct. 10-12

What: The International Association for the Study of Lung Cancer (IASLC) will host the North America Conference on Lung Cancer Oct. 10-12, 2019, in Chicago, Illinois.

The IASLC North America conference is an educational and scientific event covering key aspects of the diagnosis and management of lung cancer and other thoracic malignancies.

Dr. Douglas R. Lowy, acting director of the National Cancer Institute, will be the featured conference speaker on Friday, Oct. 11. Dr. Lowy collaborated with Dr. John Schiller on the genetic organization of papillomaviruses, identifying the oncogenes encoded by the virus. Their laboratory was involved in the initial development, characterization, and clinical testing of the preventive virus like particle-based HPV vaccines that are now used in three FDA-approved HPV vaccines.

The conference will also provide lectures on accurate diagnosis, including molecular diagnosis, stat-of- the-art treatment of thoracic malignancies, and recent diagnostic and therapeutic advances.
