New Evidence Prompts Further Concern for a Key Viral Tool Used in Gene Therapy

Recombinant adeno-associated viruses (rAAV) have long been a key tool used in developing potential gene therapies for a wide range of diseases. But a new study found that rAAV specifically targeted certain brain cells in adult mice, causing the cells to die, and suggesting that many questions and concerns about rAAV as a tool and therapy remain unanswered.
