Navdeep Kaur Brar wins IADR John A. Gray Fellowship

Alexandria, Va., USA – The International Association for Dental Research (IADR) announced Navdeep Kaur Brar, University of Oslo, Norway, as the 2021 recipient of the IADR John A. Gray Fellowship. Brar was recognized during the Opening Ceremonies of the virtual 99th General Session & Exhibition of the IADR, held in conjunction with the 50th Annual Meeting of the American Association for Dental Research (AADR) and the 45th Annual Meeting of the Canadian Association for Dental Research (CADR), on July 21-24, 2021.

Brar is a doctoral research fellow at the Institute of Oral Biology at the University of Oslo, Norway. She received her M.S.D. in odontology also at the University of Oslo, Norway, and subsequently practiced as a dentist for over four years.

Brar’s research is focused on the impact of antibiotics on the microbiome and possible interferences, including how the human milk protein complex HAMLET may prevent microbiome perturbations led by antibiotics exposure.

Awarded every two years in the amount of $10,000 USD, the purpose of this fellowship is to allow a dental or postgraduate student to obtain training and experience in dental or related research. The Fellowship is given in the IADR Scandinavian Division in 2021. This Fellowship is in tribute to John A. Gray, former Executive Director of IADR, and is funded out of donations from members and sponsors.
