KU Cancer Center partners with Fox4 to host Teen Town Hall on Vaping

The University of Kansas Cancer Center has partnered with Fox4 and the Kansas City Kansas School district to host a town hall on vaping at Sumner Academy February 27. The event will be live on fox4kc.com at 9 am. The live audience will include more than 60 students from Sumner Academy, with questions taken on site and through Fox4’s social media channels. The event will be moderated by Fox4 anchors John Holt and Abby Eden.

Speakers will include Roy Jensen, MD, Director of the KU Cancer Center; Matthias Salathe, MD, a pulmonary researcher and Chair of the Department of Internal Medicine at the University of Kansas Medical Center; and Laura Martin, PhD, associate director of the Hoglund Biomedical Imaging Center.

 Background:  

Vaping is a national health crisis, with more than one in four high school students reporting that they vape. Vaping can cause immediate lung injury as well as long-term injury such as Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease. The University of Kansas Cancer Center has partnered with Fox4 and the Kansas City Kansas School district to host a town hall on vaping to discuss current research and dispel myths about vaping.
