Hackensack Meridian Health Medical Group Welcomes Orthopedic Surgeon Stephen G. Silver, M.D.

Hackensack Meridian Health Medical Group at Hackensack University Medical Center is proud to welcome board-certified orthopedic surgeon Stephen G. Silver, M.D. Dr. Silver specializes in arthroscopic treatment of sports injuries to the shoulder, elbow and knee.

Dr. Silver has been responsible for a number of innovative advances in rotator cuff repair and posterior cruciate ligament (PCL) reconstruction. Dr. Silver developed innovative techniques to perform minimally invasive biceps tendon/labral tear repairs all-arthroscopically, reducing the need for hospitalization and allowing patients to return to normal activities with dramatically improved recoveries. 

Dr. Silver also has expertise in regenerative medicine, offering stem cell injections and platelet rich plasma (PRP) for the treatment of arthritis and tendinitis.

About Dr. Stephen G. Silver

A board-certified orthopedic surgeon, Dr. Silver is a graduate of the University of Michigan. He completed medical school at New York Medical College, graduating with honors among the top of his class. He completed his orthopedic residency in New York City at NYU Medical Center. Dr. Silver then completed a renowned sports medicine fellowship specializing in shoulder and knee surgery at Pennsylvania Hospital in Philadelphia, America’s first hospital.

Dr. Silver spent 10 seasons as a Team Physician for the New Jersey (now Brooklyn) Nets covering all games and playoffs. He performed the NBA Combine pre-draft physical exams of every college and high school player entering the NBA draft for 10 years. 

Dr. Silver has lectured to the community and physicians on the topics of posterior cruciate ligament (PCL) reconstruction, shoulder impingement and tennis elbow (lateral epicondylitis) as well as biceps tenodesis for shoulder labral tears. He also published a research paper on an innovative surgical technique he developed for shoulder biceps tenodesis surgery.
