Global Heritage Fund Launches New Sustainable Travel Program to Discover the Lost Empires of Morocco

Uniquely situated at the crossroads of Europe and Africa, Morocco is a land of dramatic landscapes and ancient traditions. It can also be a challenging destination for travelers wishing to explore beyond the well-known cities of FesMarrakesh, and Casablanca. Yet the lesser known regions of the south beckon intrepid travelers seeking authentic ways to discover the country and connect with its people and culture.

Global Heritage Fund, a nonprofit leader in heritage protection, will uncover the rich heritage of southern Morocco in an exclusive new travel program beginning September 2019. This five-day, four-night trip in the Anti-Atlas region will begin in Agadir and end in Marrakesh. The flagship itinerary has been uniquely designed to adhere to Global Heritage Fund’s high standards for sustainability and community inclusion.

Educational, expert-led daily excursions to historic sites will enrich visitor understanding and appreciation of Morocco’s ancient heritage. Travelers will explore centuries-old granaries, discover remnants of legendary caravan routes, and meet with local communities safeguarding their unique histories and traditions.

The custom-crafted itinerary includes visits to communities to further promote authentic connections and appreciation for Moroccan hospitality.

At night, travelers will enjoy boutique lodgings built with traditional materials and techniques, set amid spectacular natural landscapes from secluded desert oases to the jagged cliffs of the Anti-Atlas Mountains.

Join Global Heritage Fund on this eye-opening and transformational journey to experience heritage through historic preservation beyond monuments®.

The first trip will be attended by most GHF Trustees, with additional trips planned in 2020. Space is highly limited due to the boutique nature of accommodations. For more information and to reserve your spot, contact [email protected] and visit globalheritagefund.org/travel.
