Former U.S. ambassador available to comment on credibility of Yovanovitch testimony

Former U.S. ambassador to Ukraine Marie Yovanovitch is testifying publicly today in the President Trump impeachment inquiry.

Republican members of the House committee leading impeachment investigations have questioned the character and legitimacy of witnesses Bill Taylor and George Kent, and Trump was doing the same in real time with Yovanovitch, tweeting during her testimony.

Lee Feinstein, former U.S. ambassador to Poland and founding dean of the Indiana University Hamilton Lugar School of Global and International Studies, worked with Yovanovitch during his tenure as ambassador.

“(Yovanovitch) was always the kind of person who was very, very supportive of her ambassadors and looking to help them do their jobs better,” Feinstein said. “Never somebody who was trying to pursue her own agenda.”

Feinstein has served U.S. secretaries of state and defense and worked at the nation’s top research institutes, including the Council on Foreign Relations and the Brookings Institution. An expert on U.S. foreign policy and national security, Feinstein is available to comment on the credibility of Yovanovitch’s testimony.

To speak with Feinstein, contact Marah Yankey, Indiana University, [email protected] or 812-856-1442.
