Expert Available to Speak About Work-From-Home Injuries; October is National Chiropractic Health Month

After months of sheltering in place, many people are still practicing lifestyle changes necessitated by the COVID-19 pandemic to reduce their potential exposure: steering clear of crowded public spaces and working from home, forgoing air travel for car trips, ordering supplies online, and avoiding gyms and health clubs. As a result, people are moving less, and some are experiencing pain as a result. During National Chiropractic Health Month (NCHM), which begins Oct. 1, doctors of chiropractic will encourage the public to adjust to the challenges of staying fit and pain free during the new normal by being “Active and Adaptive” and becoming more mindful of movement, posture and other strategies to help them adapt in healthy ways.

Available to speak about work-from-home injuries, posture and musculoskeletal health is Dr. Karen Erickson, a media spokesperson for the American Chiropractic Association (ACA). Her passion is sharing information on chiropractic, health and wellness through print, television, digital media, workshops and lectures. Since the beginning of the pandemic, she has been interviewed by The Wall Street Journal, The Washington Post, and The New York Times on the subject of work-from-home injuries and setting up an ergonomic home work space.

Dr. Erickson is the founder of Erickson Healing Arts in New York City, where she has practiced for more than 25 years. She was a pioneer in ushering chiropractic into mainstream health care by becoming one of the first chiropractors to be credentialed by a teaching hospital when she joined the Center for Health and Healing at Mount Sinai Beth Israel in New York. In addition to helping establish the ACA Council on Women’s Health, she sits on the board of trustees at New York Chiropractic College and is a fellow of the American College of Chiropractic. Dr. Erickson holds a Bachelor of Science degree in biology and chemistry from Antioch College, and a doctorate with honors from New York Chiropractic College.

About the American Chiropractic Association

The American Chiropractic Association (ACA) is the largest professional chiropractic organization in the United States. ACA attracts the most principled and accomplished chiropractors, who understand that it takes more to be called an ACA chiropractor. We are leading our profession in the most constructive and far-reaching ways—by working hand in hand with other health care professionals, by lobbying for pro-chiropractic legislation and policies, by supporting meaningful research and by using that research to inform our treatment practices. We also provide professional and educational opportunities for all our members and are committed to being a positive and unifying force for the practice of modern chiropractic.
