EuroPCR 2020 cancelled due to the outbreak of COVID-19

Paris, France, 5 May 2020. It has been announced that EuroPCR 2020 is cancelled. The 31st edition of the annual World-Leading Course in interventional cardiovascular medicine was due to take place in Paris, France on 19-22 May. The sanitary and legal environment, and in particular the decisions of the French government barring public gatherings for events exceeding 5,000 participants, have resulted in this cancellation as a consequence of the COVID-19 outbreak.

Accompanying EuroPCR’s network through unprecedented times

The organisers have used the weeks leading up to the announcement to safeguard the interests of the vast network of individuals and organisations that support the annual Course, such as clinicians, allied healthcare professionals, industry partners, hotels, audiovisual providers, caterers and booth builders. The sustainability of some of them through the COVID-19 crisis was at stake.

An additional dedicated online resource during the pandemic

PCR continues to provide free and extensive educational resources throughout the year, on PCRonline. Over the last 2-3 months, the sharing of knowledge, experience and practice has remained more actively relevant than ever. A newly developed resource on “Facing Covid-19 with PCR” is providing the interventional community with practical content and advice, at a time when the outbreak is seriously complicating the management of their patients.

Ongoing commitment to independent medical education

The Programme Committee has expressed their strong commitment to providing the community with a full update on late-breaking trials and other essential educational work. The details of how this new initiative will be implemented is to be made known in the coming weeks. As for the next edition of EuroPCR, it is set to take place in Paris, France on 18-21 May 2021.
