EULAR 2020 will be held online

The COVID-19 pandemic has imposed unprecedented changes in everybody`s personal and professional lives. After careful consideration and evaluation of the risks and alternatives, the European League Against Rheumatism (EULAR) has therefore decided to cancel its physical annual congress EULAR 2020 in Frankfurt in June this year. As a scientific medical society, it is EULAR’s duty to ensure that medical and health professional congress delegates are available at the forefront of patient care. EULAR is also concerned that bringing patient delegates with rheumatic and musculoskeletal diseases (RMDs) to a large meeting venue would be extremely unwise at this time.

EULAR remains committed however to meeting its scientific, educational and training obligations. For this reason, EULAR is delighted to offer a virtual congress experience. This will be available online, probably starting from the regular congress date, Wednesday June 3rd, 2020, and will be accessible on demand over a timeframe of several months.

In light of the pandemic, EULAR is seeing the virtual congress as the best alternative to keep the spirit of its global rheumatology community alive and to address urgent questions with immediate relevance for patient care. EULAR will also publish abstracts/posters online and provide registered delegates with the one-year access to its journal, the Annals of Rheumatic Diseases.

EULAR kindly asks to be patient for a little while longer to give it the time to develop clear answers to all questions. The EULAR staff and program committee is currently working hard to develop the best possible solutions for this new scenario.

EULAR thanks you for your understanding and hopes to welcome as many of you as possible to the e-Congress as of June 2020. Rest assured that this will be an exciting, exceptional experience. EULAR 2020 will offer a scientific program of the highest level, put together by top experts from all over the world, enriched with many additional options, including interactive opportunities. We are also working closely together with our corporate members in enabling access to satellite symposia.

We will inform you shortly regarding next steps. Further, continuously updated information can be found on the congress homepage.
