ADHA Announces New Leadership for 2020-21

CHICAGO, June 19, 2020 – On June 14, the American Dental Hygienists’ Association (ADHA) installed Lisa Moravec, RDH, MSDH, of Scottsbluff Nebraska, as the organization’s 2019-20 president, along with ADHA’s new slate of officers for the upcoming year.

“2020 is the beginning of a new decade, a new chapter for ADHA,” Moravec said. “We will embrace the future as an anticipatory organization in the midst of a global pandemic. We will take action against racial injustice. We will nurture a diverse and inclusive environment. And together, we will boldly and fearlessly take steps to ensure ADHA not only remains relevant, but also thrives in the new decade.”

Moravec has served the association in a variety of positions, including most recently as president-elect and previously as vice president; District VIII trustee; member of the Executive Committee, Committee on Student Relations and Committee on Board Policy and Procedures; and two years as board coach. She has also held numerous leadership positions within the Nebraska Dental Hygienists’ Association, including a term as the organization’s president and delegate. She has been recognized for her leadership with numerous awards, as the recipient of both component and constituent awards in Nebraska for Dental Hygienist of the Year and for being inducted into Sigma Phi Alpha. 

Moravec graduated with her Bachelor of Science in Dental Hygiene from the University of Nebraska Medical Center (UNMC) College of Dentistry in 2002 and with her Master of Science in Dental Hygiene from Idaho State University in 2011. Moravec is currently an Assistant Professor and Site Coordinator for the UNMC West Division Dental Hygiene program.

Moravec succeeds Matt Crespin, MPH, RDH, of Milwaukee Wisconsin, as president. Crespin will remain on the Board of Trustees, serving as both the ADHA immediate past president and as the 2020-21 Chair of the ADHA Institute for Oral Health. 

Additional ADHA officers newly installed at ADHA’s House of Delegates meeting include:

  • Sharlee Burch, RDH, MPH, EdD, of Lexington, Kentucky, as president-elect; and
  • Dawn Ann Dean, RDH, MSDH, of Wheeling, West Virginia, as vice

Chadleo Webb, MDH, RDH, of Flagstaff Arizona is returning as the 2020-21 Treasurer of ADHA And Christina Emmert, RDH, PRP, is returning as the 2020-21 Speaker of the House. The newly installed district trustees for 2020-21 are:

  • Sheri Moore, RDH, BSHS, of Palmyra, Virginia, District III (Delaware, District of Columbia, Maryland, Virginia, West Virginia);
  • Jennifer Frame, RDH, BSDH, of Bremerton, Washington, District XII (Alaska, Hawaii, Idaho, Nevada, Oregon, Washington).

District trustees returning in 2020-21 include:

  • Jane Crocker, RDH, of Baldwinville, Massachusetts, District I (Maine, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, Rhode Island, Vermont);
  • Donna Lee Hickey, RDH, of Bethpage, New York, District II (Connecticut, New Jersey, New York, Pennsylvania);
  • Becky Smith, CRDH, EdD, of Miami, Florida, District IV (Florida, Georgia, North Carolina, South Carolina)
