AAHCM Shares Success from 2019 Annual Meeting

CHICAGO, IL (Nov. 1, 2019) The American Academy of Home Care Medicine (AAHCM) recently held its highest attended Annual Meeting, October 18-19 in Rosemont, IL. Preconference sessions were provided in collaboration with the Home Centered Care Institute (HCCI) on October 17. With over 450 attendees, this meeting provides health care professionals with training and education on the unique aspects of providing home-based medical care as well as an understanding of how to sustain these medical practices.

The education provided at the meeting came from some of the top research hospitals and schools in the U.S. However, peer-to-peer connections also played a vital role in the success of the meeting, with new collaboration opportunities like special interest groups for niche discussions; town halls allowing attendees to discuss broader issues; and a special opportunity to meet with experts for a one-on-one networking experience.

As home care medicine continues to grow in the United States, the AAHCM Annual Meeting is designed to meet the unique needs of those in the home care medicine field as well as those looking to know more about this essential area of medicine. Industry topics in policy, alternative payment models, telehealth, social determinants of health and current research were among those covered.

“It’s a very exciting time for home-based primary care as this unique delivery model is gaining attention from patients, providers and payers,” said Alex Binder, MBA, who serves as the AAHCM Program Planning Committee Chair. “The record attendance at this year’s conference is an indication that the AAHCM brings together the most prolific industry thought-leaders and innovators, as we collectively strive to deliver the best level of care, for the sickest segment of the population, in the most cost effective manner.”

The 2020 Annual Meeting will take place at the JW Marriott Bonnet Creek Resort in Orlando, FL, October 23-24. Hotel reservations and meeting registration will be open by early 2020.
