AACN Partners with CastleBranch to Fight Back Against COVID-19

WASHINGTON, D.C., April 13, 2020 – The American Association of Colleges of Nursing (AACN) is partnering with CastleBranch to help schools of nursing mitigate the risk of COVID-19 and help students safely return to clinical rotations when appropriate – all at no cost to AACN members, students, or healthcare facility partners.

CastleBranch has launched a new digital solution, CB COVID-19 Compliance, to enable AACN members to screen students for a fever – a common COVID-19 symptom, collect information on a student’s travel and exposure to COVID-19, and provide educational training on preventing the spread of infectious diseases. The application follows CDC guidelines and was built in conjunction with a panel of experts, including Dr. George Astrakianakis former director of Canada’s Disease Prevention of the Occupational Health and Safety Agency for Healthcare, and international expert on pandemic infectious disease policy.

“Nurses are on the frontlines in the fight against COVID-19, and we have a responsibility for ensuring that these essentials caregivers are well protected,” said Dr. Deborah Trautman, president and CEO of AACN. “As academic nursing leaders, we must consider ways to safely return nursing students to clinical rotations as we address the current outbreak and when lockdown orders are lifted. Our partnership with CastleBranch gives us a clear path forward by helping to reduce the spread of COVID-19 and educate the next generation of life-saving nurses.”

CB COVID-19 Compliance is built upon CastleBranch’s existing enterprise-level solution, CB Bridges, which is designed to support millions of users. The platform is compliant with all relevant regulations governing the collection and usage of private data, including FERPA, FCRA, CCPA and more. CB COVID-19 Compliance will be available to all AACN members, regardless of whether they are current CB Bridges users.

“COVID-19 has closed our schools or businesses and our cities, but it won’t keep us closed forever,” said Brett Martin, CEO of CastleBranch. “We want to make sure we’re doing everything in our power to help our nursing students get back to school, back to clinical rotations, and safely prepared to enter the nursing workforce.”

CB COVID-19 Compliance will be available to AACN members, students, and associated healthcare facility partners at no cost through December 2020.
